MRS. LOUISE PARRISH BLACKWOOD 

CARRBORO: Mrs. Louise Parrish Blackwood, 87, of Carrboro left her earthly home on Sunday, June, 8 after a brief illness.   

Mrs. Blackwood was born in Person County, the oldest daughter of Edward and Lila Parrish.  She was married to the late Bonnie Lynn Blackwood on October 5, 1942.  Mrs. Blackwood was employed by UNC Hospitals in Central Sterile Supply until she retired after 30 years of service.  She was also a member of the former Carrboro Baptist Church. 

Mrs. Blackwood was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers: George Parrish and James Parrish.  She is survived by a daughter Pat Blackwood Halbohn and husband Lee; a granddaughter Bonnie Martin and husband Tommy; a great-grandson Aaron; a sister, Molly (Polly) Parrish Medlin as well as numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. 

Mrs. Blackwood will be lovingly remembered for her quick wit and welcoming personality.  She always wore a smile and loved being with family and friends.   

The family will receive visitors at Clements Funeral Home in Durham on Wednesday, June 11 from 6 – 8 p.m.  Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Clements Funeral Chapel in Durham. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Bryant Medlin, Chris Medlin, Terry Sparrow, Cliff Collins, Robbie Eubanks and Chris Dunn. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to UNC Hospice or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. 

The family wishes to express their thanks for the prayers, calls and visits.  Mama was at peace when she passed away and the love from friends and family, both now and in the past, helped make that possible.
