View this Videotribute MRS. LYDIA ELLIS TERRELL DURHAM: Mrs. Lydia Ellis Terrell, age 83, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, June 5, 2008. She was a resident of Pettigrew Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Terrell is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Clarence Terrell, and a daughter, Brenda Vereen. She was a member of Lowes Grove Baptist Church. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Holloway Street Baptist Day Care, where she cared for and taught many children in Durham their first bible stories and bible songs. She loved all people, especially children. Her love for people made this world a better place. To know her was to love her. She had a contagious laugh and a smile to brighten every day. She loved her family and she loved the Lord. She will be missed dearly and never forgotten. Mrs. Terrell is survived by two daughters, Faye Melvin and husband Clif, and Donna Terrell and Robert West, all of Durham; four grandchildren, Bridgette McKee of Timberlake, Stephen Vereen of SC, Troy Yates of SC and Ashley Melvin of Durham; four great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. Funeral services will be held Monday 11 a.m. at Clements Funeral Chapel in Durham with Rev. Forrest Gale officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Clements Funeral Home in Durham and other times at the home of Donna Terrell. The family is being assisted in Durham by Clements Funeral Service, Inc.
